Objective
Purpose:
Understanding the role of different transportation modes in Global transportation chain is a basic knowledge of logistics engineer. In this course you will understand the purpose of rail-, road, air- and sea transportation as part of the Global supply chain and acknowledging the requirements of sustainable development. As a result of this course you will get knowledge of the operation environment and utilization possibilities of the main regulations, especially from the service user’s viewpoint
Knowledge and understanding:
You recognize the differences between modes of transport and the technical solutions for road, rail, air, sea and combined transport.
Research and information search:
You can make informed choices about appropriate solutions for the use of different modes of transport as part of a logistics system. You can analyse a solution and draw simple conclusions from the overall picture.
Engineering in practice:
You will consider the role of transport modes in the logistics operations of companies and understand the impact of solutions from the perspective of the service user.
Content
Requirements of sustainable transportation, Road transportation, Rail transportation (including combined transport), Sea transportation
Air transport and new modes of transportation
