Objectives

Object of the course:
The knowledge and skills you get on this course you will need in order to be able to help you design and implement construction works taking into account fire safety issues and operational safety.

The learning objectives of the course:
You are familiar with the main structural fire and operation safety legislation, regulations and guidelines and you know how to apply them to new and renovation projects. You know the most important factors affecting fire safety at construction sites.
These are also the basic tasks of the course.

Content

Fire progress, fire and operational safety legislation, regulations and instructions using receipt design of Finnish national building code..

Learning materials and recommended literature

Finnish bulding code(RakMK) fire regulations sekä building safety.Other materials presented in lectures.

- Seminars / Workshops

- etc.
Lessons will be kept in English, if the amount of international student participating to course is three or more persons. Otherwise lessons will be kept in Finnish and international students will study subject from English material given by lecturer. In the fall of 2022, the course will be conducted only in Finnish.

Evaluation criteria, satisfactory (1-2)

Passable (1): The student recognizes all of the learning objectives, understands the meaning of them and is able to perform the basic tasks described in the learning objectives of the course.

Satisfying (2): In addition to previous skills, the student can systematically describe the issues of the course.

Evaluation criteria, good (3-4)

Good (3): In addition to previous skills, the student can describe the influences of various solutions and can make reasoned choices between alternatives.

Laudable (4): In addition to previous skills, the student can apply the learned issues independently and is able to evaluate done solutions.

Evaluation criteria, excellent (5)

Excellent ( 5 ): In addition to previous skills, the student shows deep knowledge of course contents as well as ability to parse and wider analyze the influences of solutions.

Qualifications:
The course is part of studies that belong to qualifications of civil engineer (Ministry of the Environment guidelines on the difficulty classes of design tasks YM1/601/2015)
The studies follow guidelines of curriculum performed in cooperation with Universities of applied sciences and construction industry in 2017.
