Objective
Object of the course:
The knowledge and skills you get on this course you will need in order to be able to determine the stresses affecting in the structures and to be able to dimension the structure for different materials.
Course competences:
- Mathematic and Natural science competence
- Technological competence
The learning objectives of the course:
You can tell about the dependence between tension and deformation. You know how to determine the stresses and tensions in the structures, and you know how to dimension the structures for shear, compression, tension and bending. You know how to determine the buckling load and also the allowable load for the compressed slender rod. You know when combinations of tension occur in the structure and you know how to perform a review of it. In addition to the basic tasks of the course outlined above, you are able to determine the support reactions, internal forces and the stress concentrations of simply hyperstatic structures.
Content
Determination of stresses, Determination of deflections and displacements with formulas, Buckling, rotative and denting buckling, Basics of combined stress, Basics for dimensioning of components, simply hyperstatic structures, Deflections (analytically), vibration of the wooden floor structure.

Grading methods
- Test
- Assignments / Learning assignments,
- Continuing Grading
- Self Grading
This is the first part , 3 ECTS, of the total course 5 ECTS.
(The second part, ECTS, will be on the 1nd Spring.)
The Grading is high-quality and it is based on the learning objectives and criterion of the course.
Self Grading has an important role in Student's Grading.
