Objectives

Business simulation improves the learners' understanding and capabilities of running global business operations of a firm in a dynamic, competitive environment. The simulation game is used in advanced undergraduate, graduate and executive MBA programs in higher education and corporate training programs. In addition, the platform provides an opportunity to experience strategic positions for executing essential decisions for the company.

In this course, you are able to apply theoretical knowledge and experience in real-time challenges. Analysing the market, following the competition, advancing in the technology, understanding consumer demand and their portfolio, executing the investment decision, organising the expenses, human resource development and promoting the research and development operations.

Critically review, analyze and understand information available from the gaming platform (market reports and companies' income statements and balance sheets) and from academic and professional business sources to inform decisions in the technology business sphere

Apply disciplinary and interdisciplinary knowledge to analyze business challenges and trends to propose or take in action in the simulated market of technology business.

Communicate responsibly, effectively and professionally in English in oral and written formats.

Content

Strategic decision making, technology business dynamics, research and development, in-sourcing/outsourcing, competition benchmark, managing finances in multinational organization, business analytics, business reporting, marketing analytics.

Critical and Analytical Understanding Skills IBCRI: You show some but limited ability to analyze and evaluate business information relevant to decision-making.

Applied Business skills IBBUS: You show basic skills in analyzing business information and reasoning on that to make decisions. The decision lack strategic backing. Your decisions lead to poor results measured as development of shareholder value.

Communications Skills IBCOM: You are able to transmit and justify some of your team´s ideas and results in English but business-style communication practice is lacking.

Collaborative Skills IBCOL: You integrate to the team and its process and give some input into the team´s achievement.



Satisfactory (2):



Critical and Analytical Understanding Skills IBCRI: You show basic ability to analyze and evaluate business information relevant to decision-making.

Applied Business skills IBBUS: You show skills in analyzing business information and reasoning on that to make decisions, but the available data is used in a limited way and the long-term planning is not well applied.

Communications Skills IBCOM: You are able to transmit and justify the most important of your team´s ideas and results in English. The communication lacks partly the touch of professional business reporting.

Prerequisites

Basic courses of Management and Financial Management (JAMK Degree students) or equivalent course of basics of management (exchange students) completed.
