Tavoitteet

The object of the course
More than 60% of the web pages on the internet run on some sort of web content management system and you can create almost any website imaginable with web content management system. Best part is that you don’t need to know any programming languages to achieve that!

CMS Basics is a crash course towards understanding on what the basic building blocks of web content management systems are and how content is managed on the internet. After completing this course, you will know how to build complex websites and services by using a web content management system.

The learning objectives of the course
You will understand how a web content management system works. You will apply your knowledge to create, update and remove content from content management system. You understand different levels of user accounts and their privileges. You will apply your knowledge to customize the content management system with different themes and related tools to your liking or to specifications. You will understand different media file formats, and their properties, used by content management systems and how the affect the whole ecosystem from end users to the content management system to the maintainer.

Opetusmenetelmät

Toteutuksessa hyödynnetään käänteistä oppimista sekä projektioppimista.
Itsenäisen opiskelun lisäksi työskentelet pienryhmässä ja rakennatte yhteisen WordPress-sivuston.
Saat palautetta omasta suoriutumisesta osallistumalla luennoille, työpajoihin ja palauttamalla oppimistehtävät. Tarvittaessa saat yksilöllistä ohjausta kontaktikerroilla.
Osaamistasi testataan palautettavilla tehtävillä ja tietotesteillä. Ryhmänä palautatte verkkosivuston, joka arvioidaan.

Tenttien ajankohdat ja uusintamahdollisuudet

Toteutuksella ei ole erillistä tenttiä. Opiskelijat teettävät yksin tai ryhmässä WordPress-sivuston, joka esitetään viimeisellä luentokerralla.

Toteutuksen valinnaiset suoritustavat

You have the right to apply for recognition of your studies if you have prior learning (e.g. university studies completed elsewhere) that can be accredited towards the degree you are currently completing.
The recognition of prior learning is possible in three primary ways: accreditation (replacement or inclusion), recognition of informal learning and studification. More precise info: JAMK Degree Regulations, section 17.

Yksi opintopiste vastaa 27 tuntia työtä, jolloin 3 opintopistettä vastaa yhteensä 81 tuntia työtä.

Arviointikriteeri, hyväksytty/hylätty

You understand what a content management system is, what different uses does it have and you recognize the different parts of it. You can apply your knowledge to create, modify and remove content with the content management system. You can apply your knowledge of the content editor to create different styles of layouts. You are able to modify existing themes and user interfaces with the tools that the content management system provides. You understand how different multimedia filetypes affect the platform.
