Objective
Production systems the course gives an overall picture of the development of the company's production to be more competitive. You will learn to plan satisfactorily the different aspects of the company's production activities so that you take the whole into account. The development of your expertise begins with the understand of modern production activities, thinking about strategic issues and choosing the right development tool based on them. After completing the course, you will be able to develop production activities comprehensively towards better competitiveness.
Engineering practice:
You are able to develop complex production systems to meet economic and technical requirements.
Investigation and information retrieval:
You are able to perform simulations and analyses for detailed examination and research of technical problems.
Content
Basic choice of production stategies, paradigms of production (for example: BPR, BSC, CE, CIM, Constraint Theory, JIT, Kaizen, Lean). Goals of production and measuring them, analysis target for development of production.

Teaching methods
Luennot, tiedonhaku ja soveltavat oppimistehtävät. Ongelmalähtöisen oppimisen kautta opiskelijoilla on oppimistehtäviä ratkottavana. Tehtäviä tehdään pääosin ryhmissä. Opintojaksosta kerätään sen puolivälissä vapaamuotoinen anonyymi palaute.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)
The overall assessment consists of 50% of the exam and 50% of the training and laboratory work.
The exams are arranged three times in accordance with the degree rules.

- you are familiar with the key concepts and methods of general cargo production
- you are able to use development methods to solve the problems of general cargo production or to develop your operations satisfactorily.
