Objective

The purpose of the course is to learn to apply comprehensive and advanced evidence-based methods required in independent limited prescribing of medications in the assessment of the patient's care needs, diagnosis, implementation of nursing care, as well as monitoring and evaluating the effects of treatment.

Learning objectives
You apply, combine, and critically assess information from clinical medicine and pharmacology in clinical nursing practice while ensuring safe prescribing and medication management as a member of a multidisciplinary team.

You know how to document the basis for decision-making, including the medical history, clinical findings, diagnosis, follow-up actions, as well as the implementation of medication management and nursing care.

You have control over the scope of practice in prescribing in health promotion, disease prevention, treatment, guidance, and monitoring in the nurse's appointment.

You regularly update your knowledge and skills related to diagnostics and new medications in your area of expertise.

You recognize the boundaries of your own area of responsibility and competencies and consult other professionals as needed.

Assessment criteria, approved/failed

The course is approved when the student demonstrates the ability to apply, integrate, and critically evaluate multidisciplinary knowledge in clinical nursing when prescribing medications and implementing medication treatment. They recognize the boundaries of their scope of practice and competencies and actively seek evidence-based information to support their decision-making. The student masters the areas of medication prescribing concerning health promotion, disease prevention, care, guidance, and monitoring in the nurse's office. The student is able to document the anamnesis, clinical findings, diagnosis, and further actions that form the basis for decision-making, as well as the implementation of medication treatment and nursing care.
