Objective

Networking is vital in today's business. Global business requires dynamic and flexible actions from networks and organizations to success. Co-operation and interaction skills are greatly determining created value between organizations and individuals.

Competencies to be promoted in the course:

KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
You will get readiness to work and understand networks. You will understand opportunities and challenges of networking as business strategy and recognize organization roles in global value networks. In addition, you will understand principles of co-operation in level of organizations and individuals, as part of business development.

PRACTICAL APPLICATION OF TECHNOLOGY
You will recognize opportunities to apply methods and techniques to facilitate and develop collaboration between network members in practice. You will recognize the opportunities of digitization and how sustainability themes can be promoted within networks.

COMMUNICATION AND TEAMWORK
You will learn how to improve collaboration and networking between both organizations and individuals as part of business development.

Content

The main content of the course consists of the following topics:

- Networks as phenomenon
- Networks and value networks in business
- Supplier relationship management (SRM)
- Collaboration between organizations
- Collaboration between individuals

Course utilizes several different study material sources - books, researches and articles. Study material and course literature will be presented at the course study environment.

Teaching methods

This implementation combines face-to-face teaching and independent online studying. Students who study in face-to-face teaching will participate in the face-to-face course and other students in the independent online course. The face-to-face course includes orientation tasks, contact teaching, a learning diary, group works in class and one learning assignment which is also a group work. The contact teaching will take place on the JAMK main campus. Absence from class will be compensated by a specific assignment. Online course includes only self-study content, which can be freely scheduled.

The detailed implementation method will be informed in the Moodle workspace.

Students enrolled in the course will be removed from the implementation if they have not completed the assignment informed at the start of the course within 3 weeks of the start of the course.

Face-to-face lessons includes group exam on the last lesson.
