Objectives

Purpose
In this course you will learn about the clinical examination of a patient and the need for treatment.

Outcomes
You are familiar with client / patient clinical examination and treatment need assessment methods and are able to distinguish pathologic changes from vital signs to normal.
Apply medicine and other related sciences to plan, implement, and evaluate nursing.
You will be able to conduct a clinical evaluation and decision-making within your area of responsibility, consulting other experts as needed.
You meet the customer / client as an active participant and use customer-oriented counselling methods that are appropriate for the situation.

Content

Urgency assessment of treatment and care and service guidance. Assessment of the need for care using different communication channels. Collecting customer / client medical history, basics of cardiovascular, respiratory, ear, eye, and abdominal examination. Basics of Neurological, Psychiatric, Musculoskeletal inspection. Identification and guidance of infectious diseases. Treatment of minor traumas. Monitoring and management of long-term illness. Medication guidance and counseling.

Evaluation criteria, pass/failed

You will be familiar with the methods of assessing the client's / patients clinical examination and need for care and will be able to distinguish pathological changes in vital signs from normal.
You can interview and examine the client / patient and justify your actions.
You are able to identify abnormal findings and make an assessment of the need for care based on them, consulting other experts as needed.
You are able to justify your conclusions in securing the continuity of care for the client / patient.
You can demonstrate appropriate customer-oriented interaction skills and counseling techniques.

Prerequisites

The student masters the basics and essential methods of health promotion and preventive nursing, as well as internal medicine, mental health, substance abuse and crisis nursing.
The student knows the basics of evidence-based decision making.
The student masters the basics of anatomy and physiology as well as pharmacology and medicine, which are related to the above nursing studies.

In addition, prior knowledge of nursing students is required:
The student masters the basics of family nursing and acute and perioperative nursing.
The student masters the essential contents of anatomy and physiology as well as pharmacology and medicine.
