The track aims at shedding light on the specific characteristics of technology markets, innovations and companies. In the focus is the dynamic, fast-paced and global view of the tech-based business across company functions. The themes of change, growth and anticipation of the futures are also covered.

Critically review, analyze and understand information available from academic and professional business sources in the field of technology-based businesses.

Apply disciplinary and interdisciplinary knowledge to analyze business challenges and trends to propose to practical solutions for technology business based on the findings.

Communicate responsibly, effectively and professionally in English in oral and written formats.

Participate in inter- and multicultural settings and demonstrate teamwork skills

Create a realistic understanding of functions, opportunities and demands in technology business and identify own interests and strengths for pursuing them in future studies for career

Content

The course contents can be later enlarged and deepened with the learnings of JAMK courses such as: Elements of AI, Simulation Game and Technology Business Dynamics.

Alternative completion methods

You have the right to apply for recognition of your studies if you have prior learning (e.g. university studies completed elsewhere) that can be accredited towards the degree you are currently completing.
The recognition of prior learning is possible in three primary ways: accreditation (replacement or inclusion), recognition of informal learning and studification. More precise info: JAMK Degree Regulations, section 17.

Critical and Analytical Understanding Skills IBCRI: Student shows some ability to analyze and evaluate academic and business information relevant to tech business and foresight.
Applied Business skills IBBUS: Student shows some but narrow skills in analyzing tech business challenges and future trends.
Communications Skills IBCOM: Student is able to transmit to a limited extent his and his team’s ideas and findings in English
Collaborative Skills IBCOL: Student shows some but low-level skill in participating productively in inter- and multicultural setting and teamwork.
Skills for personal career development IBPER: Student knows how technology companies are organized and recognizes areas of professional interest in them.

Satisfactory (2):
Critical and Analytical Understanding IBCRI : Student shows basic ability to analyze and evaluate academic and business information relevant to tech business and foresight.
Applied Business Skills IBBUS: Student shows skills in analyzing tech business challenges and future trends and propose solutions but the approach is thin or superficial
Communications Skills IBCOM: Student is able to get his main message trough when presenting his and his team’s ideas and findings in English but improvement would be needed.
Intercultural Collaborative Skills IBCOL: Student show some skill in participating productively in inter- and multicultural setting and teamwork.
Skills for personal career development IBPER: Student has some understanding of how the technology-companies are organized around functions and identify some professional opportunities in them.

Good (3) –
Critical and Analytical Understanding IBCRI: Student shows ability to analyze and evaluate business data and consider possible approaches and outcomes for tech business in current and foreseeable environment.
Applied Business skills IBBUS: Student shows the average-level skills in analyzing technology business challenges and future trends and propose solutions.
Communications Skills IBCOM: Student is able to present his and his team’s ideas and findings in an excellent manner in English
Intercultural Collaborative Skills IBCOL: Student shows skill in participating in a productive way in inter- and multicultural setting and teamwork.
Skills for personal career development IBPER: Student has understanding of structures and functions of a modern technology company and can assess opportunities in them for oneself.

Very Good (4) –
Critical and Analytical Skills IBCRI: Student shows very good ability to analyse and evaluate information relevant to tech business and foresight
Applied Business skills IBBUS: Student shows skills with merit in analyzing business challenges and trends and proposing practical solutions in business
Communications Skills IBCOM: Student is to present his and his team’s ideas and findings in a very good manner in English on a level clearly above average of peers
Intercultural Collaborative Skills IBCOL: Student is able to show in a very good manner skill in participating productively in inter- and multicultural setting and demonstrate teamwork skills.

Prerequisites

First year obligatory studies of IB programme (or equivalent studies passed elsewhere) passed before starting the course.
