Objective

The Global Knowledge Economy course is designed for master's students seeking a deep understanding of the dynamic landscape of the global economy in the knowledge age. This course explores the critical role of knowledge, innovation, and information technologies in shaping the economic and business landscape on a global scale. You will learn how to analyze the concepts and theories of the knowledge economy and its impact on global business and economies and understand how to assess the influence of technological advancements and innovation on the knowledge economy. You will understand how to evaluate knowledge creation, management, and intellectual property protection strategies. You will understand the dynamics of knowledge-based industries and their challenges and learn how to formulate strategic approaches to address them and leverage the opportunities in the global knowledge economy. Further, you will learn how to communicate effectively and collaborate with diverse stakeholders in a global context. This course equips you with the knowledge and skills to thrive in the evolving landscape of the global knowledge economy, preparing you to contribute effectively to organizations and industries worldwide.

The competences to develop in this course are operating in a workplace, sustainable development, internationality and multiculturalism and ethics.

Operating in a workplace:
The students demonstrate the capacity to proactively identify development areas by anticipating future trends and challenges in the dynamic landscape of the global knowledge economy. The students apply their existing knowledge to the global knowledge economy course and employ appropriate research methods in the execution of development projects, ensuring projects are well-informed and evidence based. They further cultivate the ability to think outside conventional boundaries, challenging limits to generate creative and innovative solutions that address complex issues in the global knowledge economy. These competencies emphasize the importance of proactive development, applying knowledge effectively, and fostering creativity and innovation in the context of the global knowledge economy.

Sustainable development:
The students demonstrate a comprehensive awareness of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 8 and 9 and their relevance to the global knowledge economy. The students understand how global knowledge economy are crucial in addressing sustainability challenges and can contribute to sustainable development. The students actively promote and support the implementation of sustainability projects within the context of the global knowledge economy, recognizing the importance of sustainable practices in business operations. These competencies underscore the significance of integrating sustainability principles into the global knowledge economy and preparing students to contribute to sustainable development initiatives.

Internationality and multiculturalism:
The students demonstrate the ability to monitor global trends and developments within the global knowledge economy, stay informed about international industry standards, operate effectively, and adapt in international and multicultural work environments, and recognize the importance of cross-cultural competency in global knowledge economy endeavors. These competencies highlight the importance of global awareness and the ability to thrive in diverse cultural contexts within the global knowledge economy.

Ethics.
The students demonstrate a strong sense of responsibility for personal actions and consequences, reflecting on them in alignment with ethical principles and values and advocating for and actively promoting principles of equality and non-discrimination in all global knowledge economy operations. The students understand and consistently adhere to the principles of responsible information use, ensuring ethical integrity in research activities within the global knowledge economy. Student workload

Global Knowledge Economy course worth 5 ECTS. One ECT corresponds to an average of 27 hours of work, meaning the load of 5 ECTS is approximately 135 hours.

The course assessment is based on a case study analysis and a critical analysis of future trends in the global knowledge economy. It includes in-class oral feedback and written feedback via Moodle.
