Content scheduling
Practical training info meetings during the first academic year and possible again in the later time if needed.
The practical training is completed during the first academic year after basic studies.
Objective
The purpose of the course is to familiarize you with service industry tasks and provide practical work experience. Internship opportunities enable the application and development of your skills in the professional environment.

Service Business Competence
Course competence goals:
You identify the operating environment of the tourism and hospitality industry and master the principles of customer service.
You recognize and assess your professional competency goals and the development of your skills based on your personal study plan.
You know how to take responsibility for tasks within a work community and evaluate your own working skills.

If you have previous work experience from the tourism and hospitality field that meets the learning goals of PT1, you can apply for accreditation via the Recognition of informal Learning process. You can discuss this possibility with your Career Tutor during your Personal Learning Plan discussions. You can find the instructions and the form in the Study Guide. Choose the form Recognition of Prior Learning.
Student workload
The course work equals to 405h of student work as follows:
Participation at Info sessions and the application process for the placement (20 h)
Actual practical training (360 h)
Meeting/discussion with practical training coordinator during practical training (1 h)
Practical training diary (10 h)
Practical training presentation in the seminar (14 h)
Assessment criteria, approved/failed
The evaluation is based on competence goals, qualitative and includes a student's self-valuation. Learning outcomes are evaluated in relation to the competence goals of the course.

Self-assessment: Evaluating one's own competence and development while maintaining the practical training diary and during the practical training seminar presentation.
Teacher feedback: Given during the practical training mid-way discussion.
Continuous feedback: Provided by the workplace practical training supervisor throughout the training and final feedback at the end of the training.
The course is graded as pass/fail.
