Materials

The learning materials of the course include: online materials provided in the Moodle learning environment; selected articles, reports, and videos; Canva Certifications; lecture slides and content provided during the live online sessions. Additional recommended resources may be provided during the course as needed.

Teaching methods

This course is implemented fully online and includes 10 live online lessons. Attendance in live online sessions forms part of the final grade; students must attend at least 50% of the live online classes. No replacement assignments are offered for missed sessions within this 50% requirement. For the remaining 50%, replacement assignments are available if a student cannot attend. The study work includes familiarisation with course materials, completing learning tasks, participating in live online sessions, and successfully completing different Canva certifications. Throughout the course, students create a Design Portfolio Workbook, which functions as their final project. The workbook is completed in stages through several Mini-Workbooks (assignment sets). At the beginning of the course, each student selects one business or organisation. All Mini-Workbooks must be completed consistently for the same company. Each Mini-Workbook has its own deadline as the course progresses, typically 1–2 weeks after the related lecture. This structure means that assessment begins early in the course; missing the early part of the course may result in missing initial assignment deadlines and thus losing part of the final grade. Live lectures are recorded, but recordings remain available for only one week after each class. Students are responsible for viewing missed sessions within this timeframe. The study period runs from 12.01.2026 to 17.05.2026. Students must register for the course no later than 16.01.2026. Assignments and certifications have multiple deadlines throughout the course, following the order of the lectures and learning modules.

Student workload

The total student workload for this 5 ECTS course is approximately 135 hours, divided as follows: 20 hours – Live online lessons 50 hours – Completing Canva certifications 65 hours – Independent study which includes the Design Portfolio Workbook (Mini-Workbooks), Learning Diary, and replacement assignments (when needed)
