Content scheduling

The online course including weekly online classes takes one 8-week period, in Spring or Autumn

Objective

Upon successful completion of the course, the student - knows and understands the roles, structure and competences of the European Union institutions - has a good command of the terminology pertaining to the European Union - knows how to communicate effectively, confidently and appropriately when participating in the European Union level discourse (EU related events, meetings and communications) - has a broad understanding of the career opportunities offered at EU level - is introduced to some key characteristics and requirements of English legal EU related text

- The European Union Institutions, their roles and main duties - The European Union policies (CFSP, CAP, The Green deal) - The European Union legislative process - Addressing global issues, eg climate change, diversity and inclusion, UK and EU trade relations - Key EU terminology and related concepts - Introduction to legal English - EU career opportunities (EPSO)

Completion alternatives

The student may request an interview with the Lecturer to prove the student has sufficient knowledge of the EU. A written testimonial signed by the employer is required to prove working experience from an EU institution. The student is to contact the Lecturer two weeks prior to the start of the course.

Qualifications

This course is part of the special entity for EU Careers and does not prerequisite another course. However, the level of English required to take this course is B2-C1.
