Objective
This course aims to introduce service design in the context of Extended Reality (XR) applications. To do so, this course discusses the basic concepts in service design, such as elements of service design and tools to implement service design. Such themes will be discussed through concrete examples in XR applications so that the student can start imagining the needs when designing service for XR applications. Additionally, this course also provides a reading about the current state of AI and service design.
Content
By completing the course, the student will have a basic understanding of service design in the context of Extended Reality. In addition, the student will also be able to use two key tools in service design, such as User Personas and User Journey Map.
Location and time
The course registration takes place between 8 - 24.10.2025. The course completion takes place between 22.10 - 3.12.2025 via the Moodle-platform. The student can complete the course during the course completion dates with their own pace.

The course structure, learning material, and recommended literature are available on the Moodle-platform.
Teaching methods
Independent study and assignments on the Moodle-platform. The course consists of different core components such as: -Pre-recorded lecture: Overview of Service Design in XR -Course reading about service design approaches and fundamentals. This section also will provide a non-mandatory reading material about the current state of AI in service design to broaden the student’s understanding of service design -Course reading and design exercise on User Personas -Course reading and design exercise on User Journey Map -Writing a short reflective essay
