Purpose of the course
The purpose of the course is to practice person-centred physiotherapy by supporting the functioning of the musculoskeletal system in working life.

Course objectives
You can work in accordance with the principles of professional ethics and conduct. You can communicate and interact by taking into account the needs of the client and recognising the client's own goals for physiotherapy. You can assess and analyse the musculoskeletal function and functioning restrictions of the client, including interviewing, observation, measurement, palpation and differential diagnostic tests. You can identify risk factors (red flags) and refer the client to another professional if necessary. You will be able to can integrate and evaluate the information and draw conclusions. You can set goals with the client and make a physiotherapy plan. You can guide and implement physiotherapy in a person centred and progressive way. You can use evidence-based knowledge and you know how to document client's functioning using national titles and organisational recording guidelines.

Content

The main focus of the course is to practice musculoskeletal physiotherapy (maintenance of musculoskeletal health, prevention of disability, rehabilitation of musculoskeletal diseases) client-centred physiotherapy (interviewing, observation, clinical reasoning, goal setting, implementation of physiotherapy) in the workplace. The training will also include the documentation of functioning.

You demonstrate that you can work in accordance with the principles of professional ethics. You can establish a mutual therapeutic interaction, taking into account the needs of the client and recognising the client's own goals for physiotherapy. You can assess and analyse the musculoskeletal function and function restrictions, including interviewing, observation, measurement, palpation and differential diagnostic tests. You can identify risk factors (red flags) and refer the client to another professional if necessary. You can integrate and evaluate the information and draw conclusions. You can set goals with the client and make a physiotherapy plan. You can counsel and implement physiotherapy in a person centred way, taking into account progression. You can use evidence-based knowledge when planning the physiotherapy. You know how to document functioning, using national titles and organisational recording guidelines.

Harjoittelun arviointi pohjautuu opintojaksolle asetettuihin sekä opiskelijan itselleen asettamiin tavoitteisiin. Harjoittelussa arviointi perustuu opiskelijan jatkuvaan itsearviointiin sekä harjoittelua ohjaavan tai ohjaavien fysioterapeuttien antamaan arviointiin.
