Objective

The course lets you in on how to improve on your skills when utilising AI tools to create AI generated content like photographic imagery, visuals, sound clips, music, narrative seeds, texts etc. for games. After completing this course, you will be prepared to work with a selection of AI tools in any game development project. You will be further introduced to most important tools and techniques.

Student can apply skills and knowledge in a special field of game production, development or design, or other field of study with link to digital games.

Game production competence
Student can produce content for a game project and can work with the tools in meaningful and systematic way.
Student can produce value for a game project while working in a specific specialist role.

The learning objectives of the course
The student who completes the course is able to utilise various AI tools to create content like assets, narrative scripts etc. in game projects. The student understands the principles on how to best utilise tools for the task at hand. The student is able to work in game development team to design and produce technically valid assets.

Content

Evolution of AI tools, what tools to utilise and how. Tools for visual, textual and auditive content. Ethics and legal issues in AI generated content.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Sufficient (1): You understand the nature of AI content creation and technical requirements. You can work in a game development project to produce and design technically valid content.

Satisfactory (2): You have knowledge in the AI content creation and technical requirements. You understand different tools and techniques. You can work in a game development project and design and produce technically valid content for different purposes.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

Good (3): You can make design decisions with AI content creation and technical requirements. You know how to use tools and techniques. You can work in a game development project and design and produce assets for different purposes based on your own design decisions. You understand the ethical and legal requirements for the use of AI generated content.

Very good (4): You understand working methods, tools and technical requirements of AI content creation well. You know how to pick the most effective tools and methods for the task at hand. You can work in a game development project and design and produce assets for different purposes, as well as direct other team members in the process. You understand the ethical and legal requirements for the use of AI generated content.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

Excellent (5): You can analytically discuss about the working methods, tools and technical requirements in game development and AI generated content production. You understand the ethical and legal requirements for the use of AI generated content. You can question the presented information and give valid options. You can evaluate the processes and improve on working methods and technical details. You can find novel methods and solutions for content production with AI when working in a game development project.

Qualifications

Basic understanding of implementation of visual, auditive and textual assets in a game engine. Skills in application software for said content.
