Objective
The students will know the basics of production planning and management as well as production control, materials management and strategic planning.
EUR-ACE: Engineering Practice
Skills learned during this course and previous studies will be applied to practical problems. The students know the challenges and possibilities of information systems in production logistics.
EUR-ACE Production Logistics:
Students will understand the fundamentals of production especially in regards to logistics activities.
TELEC: Economic skills:
Case work will include economic calculations needed for running a production company. The students are learning how to deal with uncertainty and decision making by creating practical engineering solutions how to plan production company's engineering operations.
YHTVI Communication Skills:
The team work presentations are an essential part of requirements.
Content
Basics of management, production, production control, production systems, information systems (ERP) in production control, BOM, networking, quality thinking, packing, production cost accounting. The students will be familiar with different production philosophies (isms’) as Lean, JIT, Kaizen and different production models.
Materials
Lecture book, presentations during lessons, planning catalogue (in Finnish) and Spare Parts Catalogue, which is used to case study purposes, laboratory work for understanding BOM and assembly of the object.
Completion alternatives
Project Work according to separate instructions and active participation. Final presentation of the Project Work for fictional Board of Directors.

*Satisfactory(1) The students know the basics and understand how to apply their knowledge according to the objectives. Their activity and participation in project work has been irregular. In order to pass the course students must participate the final presentation and have role in there.
*Fair(2) The students know the basics and understand how to apply their knowledge according to the objectives. Their activity during instruction and contribution for the project work has been moderate.

Qualifications
Production Technologies and automation engineering, Introduction to Logistics. Students are able to find information independently, produce calculations and reports. Team working skills are needed.

Project Work will be implemented as a group work. Self evaluation of the results and working process is done by the group members.
