Objective

The students know the welding processes and techniques and they have capabilities to work in design and development tasks related to the methods in question.

Content

Joining manufacturing technologies in machine workshops. Welding processes and equipment. Welding of different materials. Mechanization and automation of welding. Welding defects. Quality assurance in welding. Welding profitability and productivity, welding costs.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Very good (4-5): The student masters the knowledge and skills required to get the grade Good (3) and can apply the knowledge acquired in a critical and innovative manner to design and development tasks.
Good (3): The student masters the essential knowledge and skills also in demanding applications:
- is familiar with the welding processes, equipment and their applications
- understands the factors affecting the weldability of materials and can make welding plans
- knows the mechanization and automation methods
- knows the basics of quality assurance in welding
Satisfactory (1-2): The student is familiar with the welding processes and parameters and the main subjects of the course but can apply them only satisfactorily to planning and development tasks.

Assessment is based on the exam and learning assignments.

Qualifications

The students master the basics of the most common workshop welding processes and the equipment used in them.
