Content scheduling

The course progresses in modules, each with its own learning tasks.
The course begins with an orientation of the expertise and competence of palliative care,
the second module is an introduction to the regulations and recommendations of palliative care, the content of the third module focuses on the philosophical and ethical issues of palliative care, and the final aspect is an examination of trends and challenges in palliative care.

Objective

Student
- Analyzes and compares the competencies re-quired for inter-national and na-tional palliative care tasks of the clinical specialist nurse in evolving operational envi-ronments.
- Reflects on the strengths and developmental needs of one's own expertise and clinical skills.
- Develops a per-sonal learning plan for the de-velopment of one’s palliative care competen-cies and exper-tise in collabora-tion with own university of ap-plied sciences tu-tor teacher.
- Evaluates chang-es in palliative care and services based on the ev-idence base and the significance of them for one-self and for the work communi-ty's competencies and develop-ment.
- Commits to the continuous de-velopment of one’s expertise and competency, peer learning, and sharing of expertise in mul-tidisciplinary and multi-actor net-works.
- Explains the philosophical and ethical founda-tions of palliative care in clinical decision-making and promotes their implemen-tation in practice.

• Evaluation of palliative care competence and expertise - starting points and devel-opment goals
• International and national regu-lations and rec-ommendations guiding palliative care and expertise
• Philosophical and ethical start-ing points in clini-cal decision-making
• International and national trends and chal-lenges in palliative care and their connection to fu-ture expertise

Assessment criteria, approved/failed

S (Pass):
The student understands the international and national competence requirements for palliative care expertise and utilizes them in assessing and developing his or her own expertise. She/he critically assesses, based on evidence, changes in palliative care and services, and their significance for competence and its development. Student actively participates in learning together and sharing expertise in multidisciplinary networks. She/he understands the philosophical and ethical foundations of palliative care in clinical decision-making in palliative care and promotes their implementation in practice.

The student does not achieve the learning outcomes of the course knowledge at the passed level of the assessment criteria
