Objective

The object of the course
After completing the course, you will be able to understand the key aspects of sustainable finance and ESG and their importance in investment activities. However, the student should be aware that the field is developing rapidly and the requirements of the legislation are constantly increasing. Continuous monitoring of the industry is a prerequisite for the successful provision of sustainable investment services to both institutional and private investors.

Content

Basic concepts of ESG, thinking models, key indicators and reporting frameworks (e.g. SDG, GRI, TCFD)
Investment approaches and goals, especially from an investment perspective
The requirements brought by the sustainable finance regulation for the provision of investment services, i.e
what and at what stage should be mentioned to the investor
how the portfolio manager must consider ESG reporting in his own operations and reporting and
how to report specifically to the client.

In addition, a description of the market size, growth rates, most typical products and investment practices will be reviewed.

You must be approved for the specialization in finance and meet certain criteria regarding academic success and completed studies.

Further information

The course is only offered in the finance field orientation. The course is completed independently in accordance with the current APV1 requirements, and after completion an application is made for inclusion in the degree. Students who have the prerequisites to pass the exam within the study time frame and the number of credits are selected to complete the course.
The APV1 exam is jointly organized by APV-sijoitustutknnot Oy and Aalto EE and is conducted online.
