Objective

You will become familiar with the basics and laws of electrical engineering and learn how to apply them to simple bills for DC and AC circuits. You know the different concepts of power and understand their connection to single-phase and three-phase electric motor drives. You will become familiar with the electrical systems used in the industry. You will learn the basics of electrical safety.

Knowledge and understanding
You will have knowledge and understanding of the natural science and mathematical principles of electrical engineering. You will understand resistance, coil and capacitor operation as part of the structure of electrical equipment.

Multidisciplinary competence
You will understand the potential of utilizing electrical engineering as part of an industrial operating environment. You have a basic knowledge of the use and selection criteria of electric motors as part of industrial electrical drives and processes. You understand the importance of engines as a medium of power and momentum.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

1: You know the most important laws of electrical engineering and are able to solve simple calculations of electrical circuits. You recognize the basics and terminology of electrical machines, but it's challenging to interpret the key points.

2: You know the basic principles of electrical engineering and know how to solve simple electrical engineering problems. You know and understand the basics and structures of electric drives and their controls, but application in practice is challenging.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

3: You have knowledge and understanding of the theory of DC and AC circuits and are able to apply your skills to basic circuit calculations. You know the basics of electric drives and you understand what things to consider when choosing components for electric drives.

4: You have knowledge and understanding of the scientific and mathematical principles of electrical engineering and are able to independently apply different methods to electrical engineering problems. You master the basics of electric drives and know how to apply knowledge in the selection of components for electric drives.

5: You have a strong knowledge and understanding of the scientific and mathematical principles of electrical engineering and are able to outline entities. You master the basics of electric drives and know how to apply knowledge by outlining various alternative functional total solutions.
