Objective

Purpose of the course:
In this course you will learn
- understand the impact of production planning and control on the manageability of production
- Understand the interdependencies between the entities and your decisions
- understand the potential of modern management methods as a factor of productivity
- apply the link between product structures, heading control analyses and production planning to sales, production control and inventory
- identify sources of supply and partnerships
- manage risk, make decisions and work in a team.

By the end of the course, you will have a broad understanding of the terminology and interrelationships between the topics covered in the course. You will gain a broad understanding of the design requirements and implementation of piece goods production and the impact of different production strategies on customer relationship management. You will develop an understanding of financial management and learn how to manage production from that perspective.


The learning objective of the course is:
You will incorporate the technical and production economy terminology of production and understand the potential of different production systems. You will be familiar with the key concepts and theories related to production management.

Course competences:
Knowledge and understanding: Knowledge and understanding of the applicable analytical, design and research/development techniques and methods and their limitations in your area of specialisation.
Communication and teamwork: Ability to work effectively and ethically in national and international contexts.
Multidisciplinary competences: Ability to gather and interpret relevant information and to manage complex issues in support of decisions involving reflection on relevant social and ethical aspects.
Practical application of technology: the ability to analyse complex technical products, processes and systems and to correctly interpret the results of such analyses, with the ability to select and have the practical skills to apply appropriate, well-established analytical, computational and experimental techniques and methods.
Research and data search: ability and practical skills to design and conduct experimental studies, interpret data and draw conclusions.

- Material control of production in an operational network
- Productivity thinking and modern management methods
- Production costing and financial management of the production enterprise

Competences of the Building Production Fundamentals module. Competences of the Construction Management module.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Intermediate (1): The student knows and recognises the topics described in the course objectives and is able to perform the tasks according to the course objectives: production control and scheduling, product structures and their application, material control of production in an operational network, productivity thinking and modern management methods, production cost accounting and financial management of a production company. Students can demonstrate their competence by carrying out tasks in accordance with the objectives.

Satisfactory (2): The student knows, identifies and understands the issues described in the learning objectives of the course. The student can demonstrate competence by describing the topics covered in the course in a systematic way.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

Good (3): the student has achieved the learning objectives of the course and is able to demonstrate his/her knowledge in a clear and understandable way. The student is able to articulate the learning in a clear and concise manner and to apply it to practical tasks.

Excellent (4). The student is able to describe the effects of different solutions and to make informed choices between alternatives.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

Excellent (5): the student has achieved the learning objectives of the course with excellent results. In addition, the student is able to examine the topics of the course theoretically and apply them critically in practice. Competence is demonstrated in a coherent and multidimensional manner.
