Objective

You learn the practices of business life from the point of view of maintenance, development and operation of information networks. You learn to search for information in problem situations from different systems, standards, and manuals. You learn to develop the company's processes in a project-based manner.

You know how to work as part of a company whose business includes the maintenance and monitoring of data networks. You know how to develop the monitoring of the data network through the development of different processes in a project-based manner. You know fault, change, and configuration management of the information network as well as the necessary systems for maintaining documentation. You know the principles and technologies of network monitoring.

EUR-ACE: Engineering practice
You know the technology, terminology and documentation used in data networks. You know how to plan and implement data networks.

EUR-ACE: Investigations and information retrieval
You are able to work in a laboratory environment and know how to use suitable data sources and make simulations

EUR-ACE: Multidisciplinary competences
You are able to collect and interpret essential information and manage complex cases to support decisions

Content

In this course, you will learn business practices related to the maintenance, development, and operation of computer networks. You will acquire the skills to seek information from various systems, standards, and manuals to solve network issues and develop company processes in a project-based manner. You will be able to work as part of a company involved in network maintenance and monitoring, and improve network monitoring through various processes. The course equips you with the skills to manage network fault, change, and configuration management, and maintain necessary documentation.

The development, maintenance and operation of information networks is guided by several different service management/operational control methodologies. The implementation of the course describes its current essential methods to learn. This list described in the course description is indicative:
- Network Operations Center
- Service management methods, e.g. ITIL
- Service level agreements (SLA and its parameters such as MTBF, MTTR)
- Data network maintenance (fault management)
