Purpose of the course
After completing this course, you have learned the basics of entrepreneurial ownership and management of forest farms.

Learning outcomes
You are able to define the content and purpose of a forest plan and know the electronic services and spatial data sets available for managing forest estate. You will be able to describe the timber trade and its bidding process, understand the value calculations of forest estate and know the main characteristics of forest estate trade. You will be able to interpret forestry profitability calculations and describe the basics of forest management.

You know the basics of forest regeneration and stand management and the main characteristics of forest habitat classification.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Sufficient 1:
You are able to define the contents and utilization of a forest plan and are able to list other tools and spatial data sets used for forest management. You are able to describe the basics of the timber trade process and know how to compete in the timber trade. You understand forest estate value calculations and know basics of the forest estate trade. You can decipher the profitability calculations, know the business environment of forest owner and describe the basics of forest estate management. Assignments are passed, but they contain deficiencies.

Satisfactory 2:
You can identify the necessary measures from the forest plan and compare how forest plan and electronic services and spatial data sets are suitable for managing forest farm. You are able to explain the wood trade process and compare ways to do the timber trade. You can interpret the calculations of forest estates value and know the forest estate trade. You are able to calculate the profitability of forestry. You are familiar with the services available to forest owners, you are familiar with the development of the operating environment and options for forest estate management. The assignments have been returned in accordance with the assignment.

Good 3:
You are able to manage the forest estate using a forest plan, spatial data set and other tools. You know how to make and tender a timber trade and you can calculate the financial outcome of the timber trade offers. You know how to determine the value of a forest estate. You will be able to assess the profitability of forest estate trade and compare the profitability of forestry investments. You know how to utilize the services offered to forest owners and know the development of the operating environment. The assignments have been returned in accordance with the assignment and have been documented using the learning material.

Very Good 4:
You are able to update a forest plan and use it, as well as spatial data sets and other electronic services to support decision-making in managing forest farm and defining alternative approaches. You will be able to act actively and independently in the role of forest owner and interpret timber trade offers. You know how to calculate the value of forest estate, can interpret the value estimates and you can trade a forest estate. You will be able to manage forest farm and improve the profitability of forestry using the services available and taking into account changes in the operating environment. The assignments have been returned in accordance with the assignment and have been documented using diverse sources.

Excellent 5:
You are able to manage a forest farm in an entrepreneurial way using forest plans and spatial data sets and forest owner services, taking care of profitability and fulfilling your own goals. You are able to apply your knowledge in the timber trade process and interpret the impact of the components of the timber trade offers on the financial outcome. You know how to calculate forest value and trade in forest space. You know how to anticipate and prepare for changes in the operating environment. The assignments have been returned in accordance with the assignment and have been documented flawlessly and comprehensively using diverse sources.
