Objective

The goal of the study unit is to develop and deepen the student's expertise in predefined areas of expertise with the help of various small-scale assignments. During the study unit, the student gets to know the technology and method presented to him or, if necessary, can also act as a peer instructor. The competences selected for development are actively applied during the assignment, thereby strengthening the student's expertise as suitable for meeting the special requirements of an internship or working life. Areas of competence to be developed can be examples of: management, teamwork, problem-solving skills, as well as technology and method expertise. The development goals are agreed together with the supervisor before the study period.

EUR-ACE Knowledge and understanding
You know the methods and operating methods commonly used by the industry. If necessary, you can take into account the practices of other industries, if the assignment requires it.

EUR-ACE Engineering practice
You know how to apply general tools and methods used by industries as part of project work. If necessary, you can modify them to suit the purpose. You know how to document and implement entities in accordance with the objectives of assignments in such a way that it is also possible to further develop them. This means appropriate documentation and the use of methods known in the field.

EUR-ACE Investigations and information retrieval
You can search for additional information related to the assignment from suitable sources and use new information to develop your own operating environment and workflow. If necessary, you are able to familiarize yourself with an unfamiliar industry and its practices based on different sources

EUR-ACE Communication and team-working
You know how to work actively as part of a multi-talented work group and work together with different stakeholders. You recognize and know how to take into account ethical and cultural perspectives in teamwork. You are able to incorporate your own expertise into the work of the work group and, if necessary, you are able to develop your expertise in the necessary areas.

EUR-ACE Multidisciplinary competences
Through project work, you will learn the meaning of guidance, project planning and scheduling. You know how to work as a team member and take care of assigned tasks in order to achieve goals. You will learn to take into account external factors that can affect the progress of the project. If necessary, you can identify risk factors that may affect the implementation of the assignment and may require sufficient foresight.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Sufficient (1): The student shows an understanding of the given topic. However, he has difficulties applying knowledge and skills in practice.

Satisfactory (2): The student demonstrates a basic understanding of the subject. He is able to apply knowledge and skills in practice.

Good (3): The student shows a good understanding of the topic. He is able to independently apply knowledge and skills in practice.

Very good (4): The student shows a deep understanding of the subject. He is able to apply knowledge and skills in practice both independently and in a group and help other students if necessary.

Excellent (5): The student shows an excellent understanding of the subject. He is able to work independently and actively as part of a group. The student knows how to creatively and innovatively apply new knowledge and skills in practice and is able to support other students with their skills.

The student shows a good understanding of the subject. He is able to independently apply knowledge and skills in practice.

The course is related to advanced professional studies. The student works on the assignment and returns a learning diary and class report from the work by default. The performance of the course is assessed based on the time spent on it and the results achieved.
