Objective

You have familiarized yourself with various aspects of the conductor's work, understand the orchestra as an instrument, and can read different orchestral scores. You can also comprehend contemporary music scores. You master the skills related to conducting and rehearsing an orchestra, and you can work independently with different ensembles. You can read and play transposing instruments from the score. You learn to communicate with musicians, leading symphonic pieces in Kapubändi. You can conduct various time signatures and express music through nonverbal communication. You have the ability to follow the development of digitalization. You can plan, implement, and evaluate music learning situations. You can record rehearsals and concerts and analyze recordings.

Content

Course content:
-Leadership and rehearsal techniques, differentiation of hands
-Score analysis and playing
-Transposition and instrument knowledge
-Conducting Kapubändi
-Group management and communication with Kapubändi musicians
-Development of verbal and nonverbal communication for orchestra conducting
-Developing digital skills, producing and analyzing video recordings.

Qualifications

Basics of Conducting course or equivalent knowledge and skills.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Sufficient 1:
Nonverbal communication is not successful to a large extent.
Demonstrating entrances and articulations is not satisfactory.
You do not master the perception of scores satisfactorily.
Your participation in Kapubändi and small group activities has been sporadic.

Satisfactory 2:
There is room for improvement in nonverbal communication.
Demonstrating entrances and articulations still needs improvement.
You have a satisfactory grasp of score perception.
You have participated in Kapubänd activities occasionally.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

Good 3:
You can express yourself reasonably well through nonverbal communication.
You can show entrances and articulations reasonably well.
You can convey musical interpretation reasonably well.
You have a moderate grasp of score perception.
You have participated in both Kapubändi and small group activities throughout the academic year.

Very good 4:
You can express yourself very well through nonverbal communication.
You have a strong grasp of score perception.
You demonstrate entrances and articulations effectively.
You convey musical nuances and interpretation effectively.
You have consistently participated in Kapubändi activities, contributing to the musical experience of others.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

Erinomainen 5:
You can conduct an orchestra in such a way that, through nonverbal communication, the orchestra performs all nuances and articulations well.
You can convey musical interpretation to the musicians.
You have consistently participated in both Kapubändi activities and small group lessons throughout the academic year.
You can read scores well and have a good understanding of transposing instruments.
You possess an independent artistic vision and have the necessary technical and interpretive skills for forming your own artistic perspective and performing music.
