Objective
You will learn local area network protocols, structure and principles of their design. You will learn how to search for information from industry standards and manuals to solve information network problems in local area networks. The goal is for you to know the protocols and principles of data transfer in local area networks. You know the technologies and protocols used in local area networks, and you know how to configure them. You can plan local area networks using different data network devices. You know how local area networks connect different terminal devices to the backbone network.

You know the concepts related to the data transmission network and the data transmission principles of the most important active devices in the network, as well as the most important tasks. You understand the steps of data transfer and know how to plan local networks

Content
In this course, you will learn the protocols, structure, and design principles of local area networks (LANs). You will acquire the skills to seek information from industry standards and manuals to solve network issues in LANs. You will understand the protocols and data transmission principles in LANs and be able to configure the technologies and protocols used. The course equips you with the ability to design LANs using various network devices and connect them to backbone networks.
There are several technologies used in local area networks and their development is continuous. The course implementation describes the current, essential technologies. This list described in the course description is indicative:
Different variations of the Spanning Tree protocol (MSTP, PVLANSTP)
LAN switch management technologies (e.g. Virtual-chassis/Stacking)
More detailed planning of virtual LANs (Ethernet/VLAN, PVLAN, QinQ)
Wireless LANs (WLAN controller, Mesh)
Routing technical details of local area networks (L3 connection, priorities of routing protocols and more precise route selection, e.g. Longest prefix, etc.)
OSI model layer 2 security (Network Access Control, L2 security, IPv6 L2 features)
