Objective
You learn the structure of data center data networks, protocols and their design principles. You learn how to search for information from industry standards and manuals to solve data network problems in data centers.
The goal is for you to know the protocols and data transfer principles in data centers. You know the technologies and protocols used in data centers, and you know how to configure them. You know how to design a data center network using switches and servers. You know how to search for information on industry standards and device manufacturers' manuals to solve problems in data centers. You know how data centers are connected to LANs and other data centers using the backbone network.
EUR-ACE Knowledge and understanding
You know the main design methods of data center structures. You know the connection interfaces of the devices and understand the basic ideology of the network structure of data centers.
EUR-ACE Engineering practice
You know how to apply knowledge of data center networks to communication between devices.
EUR-ACE Investigations and information retrieval
You know how to plan and implement data center networks, interpret input data and results and evaluate functionality and work safely in the environment.
Content
In this course, you will learn the structure, protocols, and design principles of data center networks. You will acquire the skills to seek information from industry standards and manuals to solve network issues in data centers. You will understand the protocols and data transmission principles in data centers and be able to configure the technologies and protocols used. The course equips you with the ability to design data center networks using switches and servers, and to connect data centers to local area networks and other data centers via backbone networks.
There are several technologies used in data center networks, and their development is continuous. The implementation of the course describes its current, essential technologies. This list described in the course description is indicative:
Knowing the communication profile of data centers (East-West & North-South paradigms)
Scalable data center topologies (Top of Rack switch, Data Center Fabric, Leaf and Spine)
Fault-tolerant switching network technologies (LACP, LAG)
Distributed data center protection firewall technologies (HA-FW)
Server hard disk networks (SAN solutions)
Network technologies (overlay networks) enabling the migration and fault tolerance of the data center virtualization layer
