Objective

Purpose of the course:
The knowledge and skills you will need in this course will enable you to plan and execute the concreting of a site to a high standard.

Course competences:
Knowledge and understanding: knowledge and understanding of the appropriate equipment, tools, technologies and their limitations in concrete work
Communication and teamwork: ability to work effectively as an individual and as a team member
Multidisciplinary competence: Awareness of the health and safety of the engineering profession and an understanding of its limitations.

Course objective:
You will be able to plan the concreting of a site; select the moulds and mix to be used and ensure correct aftercare and quality assurance measures, including in winter conditions.
You will be familiar with the main features of precast concrete structures.
You will be able to plan the logistical chain of precast concrete elements from the factory to the site, select appropriate storage methods on site, and be familiar with the issues affecting the execution of the installation work and the impact of the lifting equipment used on the installation work.
These are also the basic tasks of the course.

Content

Concreting; design of the work, formwork technique, choice of mass, aftercare and quality assurance. Precast concrete construction; logistics, on-site storage, installation planning and selection of lifting equipment.

Concrete science: concrete as a material and concrete properties, concrete production

Assessment criteria, approved/failed

Passed: The student knows and recognises the issues described in the course objectives and is able to perform the tasks according to the course objectives: (Concreting; planning of the work, moulding technique, selection of the mass, aftercare and quality assurance. Precast concrete construction; logistics, on-site storage, planning of installation work and selection of lifting equipment). Students can demonstrate their competence by reading the topics related to the objectives.
