Objective
You undesrstand the structure and the functions of the hardware and software in distributed control system (DCS). You can configure the basic application software loops for the laboratory process and you learn how to test the applications in a real process.
EUR-ACE ENGINEERING PRACTICE
You can configure independently a proper process control according to an initial data. You can configure the basic measurements, final elements, control loops, test your application, and you can tune the control loops. You can find and solve the malfunctions.
Content
In this course, you will understand the structure and functions of the hardware and software in a Distributed Control System (DCS). You will configure basic application software loops for laboratory processes and learn how to test these applications in real processes.
Additionally, you will independently configure a proper process control according to initial data. This includes setting up basic measurements, final elements, and control loops, testing your application, and tuning the control loops. You will also develop the skills to identify and solve malfunctions.
Application design for process station and user interface
Hardware and software structure of distributed control systems
Fieldbuses and field devices
Testing
Qualifications
Basic skills and knowledge in logical controls and control systems
Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)
Adequate (1): You identify the basic knowledge and terminology but in the interpreting of the essential concepts the skills are still inadequate.
Satisfactory (2): You are familiar with the basic knowledge and terminology but it’s challenging to make engineering independently.
Assessment criteria, good (3)
Good (3): You understand the structure of the distributed control system and the depedencies between different parts. You can configure the basic loops of the application software and can test and tune the application software. You understand the system so deeply that you can find the reasons of malfunctions.
Very good (4): You master the essential knowledge and can apply the knowledge.
Assessment criteria, excellent (5)
Excellent (5): You master the essential knowledge and can apply the knowledge acquired in a creative and innovative manner.
