Opinnoissa suuntaudutaan automaatiotekniikkaan tai sähkötekniikkaan:

Automaatiotekniikkaan suuntautumalla opit suunnittelemaan tuotantolinjojen ja yritysten tuotteiden sisältämää automaatiota, mittauksia, ohjauksia, säätöjä ja käyttöliittymiä. Tunnet automaatiototeutusten eri tasot teollisuuslaitoksessa sekä teollisuuden keskeiset osaprosessit. Osaat suunnitella ja toteuttaa ohjausjärjestelmiä ja pystyt arvioimaan eri vaihtoehtoja ohjaus- ja säätöratkaisuiksi. Sinulla on osaamista ohjelmoitavista logiikoista, kenttäväylistä, tehdasverkoista, hajautetuista digitaalisista automaatiojärjestelmistä, PC-pohjaisista järjestelmistä ja käyttöliittymistä. Pystyt luomaan robotiikan ja konenäön avulla ratkaisuja tuotannon automatisoimiseen ja tehostamiseen. Hallitset keskeiset suunnittelutyökalut, joita käyttäen pystyt suunnittelemaan sovelluksia ohjauskohteisiin. Tunnet kenttälaite-, automaatio- sekä instrumenttisähkösuunnittelun standardien mukaiset periaatteet ja käytänteet. Osaat käyttää ja ohjelmoida laboratorioissa olevia laitteistoja, jotka ovat vastaavia kuin teollisuudessa käytettävät. Lisäksi ymmärrät automaation merkityksen kestävän kehityksen edistämisessä ja osaat hyödyntää automaatiota resurssien säästämiseksi, energiatehokkuuden parantamiseksi, päästöjen vähentämiseksi ja kiertotalouden edistämiseksi.

Sähkötekniikkaan suuntautumalla opit hallitsemaan suunnittelussa käytettävät laskenta- sekä mitoitusmenetelmät ja suunnittelutyökalujen käytön sekä ymmärtämään sähkösuunnitteluprosessin eri vaiheet. Sinulla on sähkösuunnitteluosaamista teollisuus-, kiinteistö- ja jakeluverkkokohteista. Osaat soveltaa suunnittelussa käytettäviä standardeja ja toteuttaa niiden mukaisen dokumentoinnin. Tunnet yleisimpien sähkökoneiden, -laitteistojen ja -laitteiden toimintaperiaatteet ja osaat valita niistä ympäristöystävällisiä ja energiatehokkaita vaihtoehtoja . Sinulla on valmiudet mitoittaa ja valita sähköjärjestelmiä teknistaloudellinen näkökanta huomioiden. Ymmärrät sähkönsiirto ja -jakeluverkon perusrakenteen, toimintaperiaatteen, suojausmenetelmät, verkon komponenttien tehtävät ja sähköntuotantoteknologiat. Ymmärrät myös sähköturvallisuussäädösten sekä standardien tärkeyden ja kykenet soveltamaan niitä tehtävissäsi. Osaat tehdä kytkentöjä, sähkömittauksia ja laitteiden konfigurointia. Tiedostat sähkötekniikan merkityksen kestävän kehityksen edistämisessä ja osaat hyödyntää uusiutuvia energialähteitä, kuten aurinkoenergiaa sähköntuotannossa sekä vaikuttaa sähkön tehokkaaseen käyttöön esimerkiksi kuormanohjauksen avulla.
