Objective
Purpose of the course
When studying farm production technology, you will search for and find technologies that are suitable for the farm conditions and for meeting the production target. At the same time, you will learn about the principles of basics functions, applications and safe use of the most common agricultural machinery. Machinery and equipment are important tools for achieving production goals in an increasingly efficient environment.
If you are completely unfamiliar with agricultural machinery, this course will give you a good understanding of it. If you are more experienced with machinery, this course will allow you to share your knowledge with others and at the same time broaden your skills.
Course competences
Agricultural skills:
-You will be able to select the crop management methods for different crops and plan the crop production on the farm according to the type of production.
Natural sciences and environmental knowledge:
-be able to apply biology, mathematics, chemistry and physics to applied tasks in rural industries
Technological competences:
-be able to select and develop technological solutions for bioeconomy production processes
-be able to measure and analyse the parameters of biomass production and processing processes
Proactive development:
-be able to look for customer-oriented, sustainable and economically viable solutions, anticipating the future of your sector
Knowledge objective of the course
In this course you will learn to identify the most common agricultural machinery and equipment, to recognise their technical structures and safe use, and to understand the importance of regular maintenance for the functionality of the equipment. You will learn how to search and find information on machinery to aid comparison and how to calculate simple machine measurements.
Content
-The most common machinery and equipment used in crop production; tillage, sowing, plant protection, harvesting, storage and handling
-Water management of the field, i.e. drainage and irrigation
-Coordination of machinery according to production objectives
-Calculations of performance such as work efficiency, time, soil compaction and traction power needs
Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)
Intermediate 1:
You will identify how the most common types of agricultural machinery work, what structures they have and why regular maintenance is important for them. You will know some ways to search and find information about machines in the context of machine comparison and be able to calculate simple machine measurements.
Satisfactory 2:
You can describe how the most common agricultural machines work, what structures they have and why regular maintenance is important for them. You know how to search for and find information about machines in the context of machine comparison and can calculate simple machine measurements.
Assessment criteria, good (3)
Good 3:
You can identify how the most common types of agricultural machinery work, what structures they have and why regular maintenance is important for them. You have a good understanding of how to search for and find information on machinery in relation to machinery comparisons and can calculate different types of machinery measurements.
Excellent 4:
You understand how the most common agricultural machines work, what structures they have and why regular maintenance is important for them. You have a good understanding of how to search for and find information on machinery in the context of machinery comparison and can calculate different types of machinery measurements in a comprehensive way.
Assessment criteria, excellent (5)
Excellent 5:
You have a good understanding of how the most common agricultural machines work, what structures they have and why regular maintenance is important for them. You have a good understanding of how to search for and find information on machinery in the context of machinery comparison and can calculate different types of machinery measurements using applied methods.
