Education content and professional growth and know-how
The scope of Master’s Degree Programme in Construction Management is 90 credits, with a completion time of around 2–3 years. The studies have been designed in a way that they can be completed even when working full time.
The competence in sustainable construction and construction management is based on the compulsory studies completed during the 1st year. The degree includes management studies that will help you develop your competence in managing people and projects. In addition, you will be able to hone your competence through not only the information you receive in the courses, but also the personal stories and practices shared by your fellow students.
The degree does not include any study paths, as is usually the case with a Master of Engineering degree in civil engineering. All of the courses included in the degree (60 credits) will help you develop your management or production expertise.
The thesis, which accounts for 30 credits, focuses on workplace development, and it begins after the 1st year.
Flexible studies
Your first-year studies (20 ECTS credits) include contact lessons that are held once a month. These are implemented in the form of two-day contact lessons on business days. Some require being present on Jamk’s Jyväskylä campus. The remaining courses (40 credits) and the thesis (30 credits) can be scheduled according to your own needs as either contact or online teaching. Between meetings, you will study independently or in small groups.
You can choose your alternative or elective studies from EduFutura partner institutions (University of Jyväskylä and Gradia) and international studies from European EUDRES higher education institutions. You can also choose from Finnish and foreign partner universities, such as other universities of applied sciences and universities. You can apply for accreditation of higher education studies that you have completed elsewhere.
Working life oriented learning
Learning and development tasks related to the studies are integrated into working life. The study process makes use of active interaction to allow your entire group to benefit from every member’s competence and expertise.
