Objective
After completing the course, the students understand the basic theory of thermodynamics and its structure and concepts, and are familiar with basic concepts of heat transfer.
Content
Basics and applications of thermodynamics; thermodynamic concepts and quantities, thermodynamic properties of elements and compounds, thermodynamic laws and processes; state equations, heat, energy, entropy, exergy, ideal gases, phases.
Familiarisation with the various forms of heat transfer, conduction, convection, condensation, boiling and radiation, and with their applications, e.g. calculations related to thermal insulation and heat exchangers.
Qualifications
Physics 1, Physics 2, The students understand the key concepts, contents and natural laws connected with physical states of matter, thermology and heat transfer, and they are able to apply them by means of mathematics.
