Objective

You will learn to apply in practice the issues taught in professional studies in mechanical engineering, practice in the methods of working in industry and prepare for the typical work tasks of a production engineer. The projects aim to be done in multidisciplinary teams on company-oriented topics.

Engineering practice: You will be able to identify, formulate and solve diverse problems and be able to choose well-established analytical, computational and experimental techniques or methods appropriate to the situation. You know how to combine theory and practice to solve a development problem.

Multidisciplinary Competences: You will have an awareness of financial, organizational and managerial aspects (such as project management and risk and change management) in an industrial context and business context. You will have the ability to manage complex technical or professional tasks or projects while taking responsibility for decision making.

Communication and team-working. You will be able to communicate clearly about ideas, problems and solutions in the engineering community and act effectively as an individual and as a member of a team. You can write technical reports.

Content

Development project and areas of its implementation such as project plan, goal setting, knowledge base formation, ideation methods, problem solving, presentation of results, reflection on results. Written and oral reporting and writing memos.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The overall assessment is based on the work of the group, the returnable project folder and the seminar presentation held on the project. The project folder contains: project report, self-assessment, group self-assessment, media release and notes on the project team meeting. In addition, the overall evaluation is affected by the client's evaluation of the project work.

Adequate (1): You have clear lacks in the overall implementation of the project, in the progress of the planned schedule, and you have not been able to utilize the information obtained from other courses in the implementation. You have produced very limited results in line with your goals, your solutions are not justified and your information retrieval has been limited. Your report does not follow JAMK's bachelor thesis guidelines.

Satisfactory (2): You have slight lacks in the overall implementation of the project, the progress of the planned schedule and you have made little use of the information obtained from other courses in the implementation. You have produced limited results compared to your goals, the results are not justified and your information search has been limited. Your report does not follow JAMK's thesis guidelines. Your presentation is reasonably informative.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

Good (3): You have minor lacks in the overall implementation of the project, the progress of the planned schedule, and you have utilized the information gained from other courses in the implementation. Your work is productive in terms of goals, the results are justified, and your search for information has been varied. Your report has been written in accordance with JAMK's thesis guidelines. Your presentation is informative, knowledgeable and convincing.

Very good (4): You understand the overall implementation of the project, stay on the planned schedule and have made extensive use of information obtained from other courses in the implementation. You have responded comprehensively to your goal setting, the results are well-justified, and your search for information has been extensive. Your report has been written in accordance with JAMK's thesis guidelines. Your presentation is very informative, knowledgeable and convincing.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

Excellent (5): You manage the implementation of the overall project, stay on the planned schedule and have made very extensive use of the information obtained from other courses in the implementation. You have produced very comprehensive results in line with your goals, the results are very well justified and your search for information has been very extensive. Your report has been written in accordance with JAMK's thesis guidelines. Your presentation is very informative, knowledgeable and convincing.
