Objective
The student knows and understands the knowledge base of user interface and usability as part of application design taking into account the requirements and needs of the target group. The student is able to design and implement a graphical user interface on a web page and in a digital media application. The student understands the basics of usability testing.

Basics of interface specification and design (specifications, process perspective, preliminary preparations, gathering requirements, design and testing),
Implementation of user interface with image processing software, basics of usability, methods of usability testing (e.g. heuristic assessment) and usability testing of the web page and user interface specification as part of web service specification..

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)
Sufficient 1: The student knows the basics of user interface and usability and is able to implement a simple user interface on web pages and digital media. The student’s course assignment documentation is brief and contains errors.
Satisfactory 2: The student understands the basics of user interface and usability and is able to implement a basic user interface on web pages and digital media applications. The student’s course assignment documentation is restricted.
Assessment criteria, good (3)
Good 3: The student knows the essential laws of user interface and usability and is able to apply them to user interfaces of web pages and digital media applications. The student’s course assignment has been documented according to requirements.
Very good 4: The student masters the laws of user interface and usability and is able to apply them to user interfaces of stylish web pages and digital media applications concerning the target group. The student’s course assignment has been documented meticulously.
Assessment criteria, excellent (5)
Excellent 5: The student has a comprehensive command of laws of user interface and usability and he/she is able to apply them creatively to interfaces of stylish web pages and digital media applications (layout, graphics, fonts, use of white space etc.) considering customer point of view on user interfaces for web pages and digital media applications. The student’s course assignment (analysis of the topic, target group, wireframe models, visual implementation and slicing, testing) has been documented comprehensively and meticulously.
