Objective

The students understand the principles (definitions, the use, process, specification, design, editing software and hardware, resolutions, aspect rations, delivery methods ja compression principles) and common digital video and audio standards. They are familiar with the editing (texting, cutting, adjustments, transitions, animation e.g.) and publishing of sound and digital videos in suitable formats on the digital media services (e.g.YouTube).

Content

Digital video, video editing, video formats, the publication of videos in different formats. The principles (see learning outcomes) and editing of analog and digital sound. Treatment of sound dynamics and tone in theory and in practice. Sound file formats and publication for different purposes (especially web formats).

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Excellent: The student masters digital video and audio standards comprehensively and has a good command of versatile digital video and audio editing methods. The student is able to make creative, impressive videos (e.g., soundscape design, layout, graphics, animation, fonts) for various purposes. The documentation of the assignment is complete, detailed and well written.

Very good 4: The student masters digital video and audio standards and has a good command of versatile digital video and audio editing methods. He (she) can make impressive videos for various purposes. The documentation of assignment is complete and well written.

Good 3: The student understands digital video and audio standards and manages digital video and audio editing methods. The student can make impressive videos for different kind of purposes. The assignment is documented according to the requirements.

Satisfactory 2: The student knows the digital video and audio standards and manages digital video and audio editing methods. The student is able to produce videos for various purposes. The assignment has been documented according to the requirements; however, it is short and defective.

Sufficient 1: The student knows the digital video and audio standards and manages digital video and audio editing methods. The student is able to produce basic videos for various purposes. The assignment is documented according to the requirements; however, it is quite short and defective.

Fail 0: The student does not meet the minimum criteria set for the course
