Objective

• The students deepen their skills in the use of child and family-based and functional work methods with children, young people and families.
• The students can use concrete tools which are used in child welfare.

Content

• Working methods in family work and child welfare, their theoretical backgrounds and applying in practice when working with children, young people and families with children.

Qualifications

The students know the basics of child welfare and family work, work environments and recognize the needs of children, youth and families as the starting point of work. The students recognize the factors that create needs for child welfare services in society and the changes which take place in children´s position and rights.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Sufficient (1)
The students demonstrate to have reached and learning objectives.

Satisfactory (2)
The students demonstrate to have reached and learning objectives of the course on a satisfactory level. The students participate occasionally in team work and only a little in the online environment. They have completed the agreed assignments sufficient. In a portfolio they show modest capabilities to describe the subjects of the course and utilize sources very little. The students follow only partly or not at all the reporting instructions of Jyväskylä University of Applied Sciences.

Good (3) The students demonstrate to have reached and learning objectives of the course on a good level. The students participate in team work and the conversations in online environment and they have completed the given assignments. In a portfolio they show good capabilities to describe the subjects of the course and to consider them critically. The students follow the reporting instructions of Jyväskylä University of Applied Sciences.

Very good (4) The students demonstrate to have reached and learning objectives of the course on a very good level. The students participate in team work actively and the conversations in online environment and they have completed the given assignments. In a portfolio they show very good capabilities to describe the subjects of the course and to consider them critically. The students follow the reporting instructions of Jyväskylä University of Applied Sciences.
