Objective
The students
• know how to assess and develop her competence and professional skills in social and educational operating environments
• will be able to act in accordance with ethical principles of social services
• will know how to assess the service needs of customers in different phases of life and know how to act in a service-oriented capacity
• will plan activities, know how to objectively support and advise different types of customers and customer segments in their daily routines and life situations
• will be able to use and apply customer service methods.
Content
• Social counselling: Supervised practical training in various social counselling environments.
• Early childhood education: Supervised practical training in early childhood education, particularly in children's day care facilities.
• More precisely defined exercise content guidelines are given according to the students´ study path.
Qualifications
The students are familiar with the professional, ethical and social counselling principles and/or pedagogical principles of customer services. They know how to apply expressive and functional methods in customer services.
Assessment criteria, approved/failed
Pass (S) • The students are able to describe the principles as well as services of their placement as a part of Finnish society,and local service system. They will name inner as well as outer multi-professional functions in client work and diverse networks. • The students observe the personal needs and resources of the client as a basis for providing services, counselling, care as well as early childhood education and pedagogy. • The students are able to create a professional as well as a participatory interaction relationship with their clients. They are in a natural contact with their client´s family and social networks. • The students are able to plan, implement and assess the counselling work and pedagogy in co-operation with the personnel. They have internalized the values as well as the ethical principles of social services. • The students are able to explain as well as behave according to their working principles, and theory in practice. They are able to analyze and assess their competences in the work community.
