Objective

In this course, you will broaden the range of mathematical tools needed in the field of technology by learning the concept of a function and the use of different types of functions in modelling technical phenomena. In addition, you will learn to process and analyse statistical data as a basis for decision-making in working life. You will learn to calculate the likelihoods or risks of different alternatives and to examine statistical dependence in data.

After completing the course, you will understand the concept of a function and be able to apply key function models, including exponential and logarithmic functions. You will master the basics of combinatorics and probability theory and be able to identify and apply the most common probability distributions of random variables. You will be able to calculate descriptive statistics of distributions and use Excel to process, visualise, and analyse mathematical models and data.
