Objective
After completing the course, the student: Has strengthened their readiness to study mathematics as part of university studies by supplementing the basic skills provided by advanced high school mathematics. Has strengthened their calculation routine (computational fluency). Has become familiar with mathematical concepts essential for studies in information and software engineering. Has become familiar with the basics and fundamental concepts of logical reasoning and propositional logic. Masters the basic notations of set theory. Has become familiar with the software tools used in studying mathematics.
Content
Elementary functions (polynomial and rational functions, trigonometric functions, logarithmic and exponential functions). Solving equations and inequalities. Estimating and comparing the asymptotic growth rates of functions. The derivative of a single-variable function. Accumulation and the integral function. Summation notation and series. Combining and truncating sums and series, as well as estimating them from above and below. Propositional logic: Connectives, counterexamples, logical implication, and logical equivalence. The truth value of an open sentence (predicate). Introduction to basic set theory notations (union, intersection, difference, complement).
