Objective
The object of the course:
You will continue to learn the basics of language German and the culture of German speaking countries. By the end of the course, you are able to use simple phrases and sentences in spoken and written production. You expand your vocabulary and knowledge of language structures needed in everyday situations. You will be able to act in accordance with the norms of German culture in typical communication situations.
Course competences:
The course prepares and equips you to act and work in an international and multicultural environment.
The learning objectives of the course:
You can interact in simple and routine everyday situations, although problems in pronunciation and pauses may affect communication. You understand the main points of a simple text. You are able to write a simple text using the vocabulary and structures you have learned on the course. You understand the cultural differences between your home country and Germany.

Do you want to deepen your knowledge on the German language after the basics? Come and learn more about the German language and culture!
In the course you will learn
- more about German pronunciation.
- to use the German language in everyday interaction situations (for example, everyday situations, asking the way, holidays and visits, study and working life vocabulary, phone calls and e-mails).
- to know the characteristics of the culture of German-speaking countries.
The course also deals with the basic grammar of the German language. You will learn
- the dative case of personal pronouns and nouns
- possessive pronouns
- present perfect
- the past tense of the verbs sein and haben
Qualifications
The course is well suited for anyone with some basic knowledge in German (German for beginners 1 (JAMK) OR level A1.1 of The Common European Reference for Languages) and who would like to continue their German studies.
Assessment criteria, approved/failed
Pass:
You understand basic expressions from slow and clear speech. You can interact in simple and routine everyday situations, although problems in pronunciation and pauses may affect communication. You understand simple texts on familiar topics. You can write a simple text. There may still be some faltering in the use of vocabulary and language structures.
Fail:
The level of competence does not reach the minimum requirements, or the assignments and exams of the course have not been successfully completed.
NB! If you need a numerical grade (1 - 5), it can be obtained on a separate certificate. The need for a numerical assessment must be communicated to the teacher at the beginning of the course. After the first assessed assignment or test, it is no longer possible to change the grading scale from pass-fail to a numerical scale.

Lectures on Zoom once a week on Tuesdays at 16.00-18.30, 11.2.-13.5.

In addition to the lectures the student does homework and graded assignments, and studies independently in Moodle using the material provided by the teacher.

5 ECTS = 135 of work
