Objective

You understand writing as a process. You are able to develop your Finnish language skills through various text types, including media, study and everyday texts.

You learn to develop your reading and writing skills independently and on the basis of the feedback you receive. You learn to use the theoretical knowledge of writing in your texts.

You understand the meaning and aim to execute the principles of process writing.

You reflect on your development throughout the course via self-assessment.

Content

You learn
- to find, evaluate, choose, read and use media, study and everyday texts appropriate for your level and interest in developing your Finnish language skills;
- to reflect on your skills and assets;
- to read and write fact-based texts in alignment with your language skills, to receive feedback on your writing and to edit and develop your texts accordingly;
- to write from sources;
- the principles of quoting, paraphrasing and summarizing; and
- the theoretical knowledge of writing and how to apply it in your texts.

Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) B1.

Assessment criteria, approved/failed

You understand the meaning and aim to execture the principles of process writing in your portfolio. You have considered the feedback given by the teacher and edited your texts accordingly. The language you have used is mainly understandable, but there can be some shortcomings in terms of fluency. Your basic writing skills (structure, paragraphs, sentences, etc.) are sufficient. The style of your texts is generally appropriate for the given situation.

You reflect on your development throughout the course via self-assessment.

The portfolio and the course assignments are evaluated as Passed and in conformance to the instructions. The portfolio assignments reflect the study of the course contents.
