Objective

The object of the course

The course aims to allow participants to enhance their leadership skills and to master specific competencies in intercultural management and business negotiations in a global environment. The course will also give participants the mindset, the approach, the methodologies, and the tools to manage people.

Students are trained to cope with multicultural challenges and partnerships, and the internationalization of firms - and to develop their personal leadership skills. The course includes students from many parts of the world - contributing to its true international and entrepreneurial spirit.

The learning objectives of the course

You are able to critically review, analyze and understand information available from academic and professional business sources in intercultural management and leadership field.

You can apply disciplinary and interdisciplinary knowledge to take in action practical intercultural management situations based on the findings.

You know how to communicate responsibly, effectively and professionally in English in oral and written formats and participate in inter- and multicultural settings and demonstrate teamwork skills.

Content

For each content unit there will be processes and analytical tools provided for implementation of learned model and concepts

Qualifications

First year course of Management (JAMK Degree students) or equivalent course in basics of management completed.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Adequate 1:
You are familiar with the ways to analyze and evaluate academic and business information relevant to to intercultural management and leadership.
You know how to analyze business challenges and trends in intercultural management and propose viable action in a guided situation.
You can transmit your ideas and findings in English and participate in multicultural teamwork to a limited extent.

Satisfactory 2

You show basic ability to analyze and evaluate academic and business information relevant for intercultural management and leadership. You can to a limited extent analyze business challenges and trends and propose solutions related to international management and leadership.
You are able to get your main message through when presenting your ideas and findings and have basic teamwork skills in multicultural teamwork.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

Good 3
You can analyze and evaluate business data and consider possible approaches and outcomes for intercultural management and leadership.
You are able to analyze business challenges and trends and propose solutions for intercultural management.
You are able to present your and your team’s ideas and findings in English and participate in multicultural teamwork.


Very Good 4
You have the ability to analyze and evaluate intercultural management information from various sources.
You can analyze complicated business challenges and various trends and propose practical solutions for intercultural management.
You are able to present your and your team’s ideas and findings in English on a level clearly above average of your peers and participate productively in multicultural teamwork.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

Excellent 5
You have ability to analyze, evaluate and combine academic and business information from various sources on intercultural management and leadership.
You can analyze complicated business challenges and trends and propose practical and innovative solutions for or intercultural management.
You are able to present your and your team’s ideas in a convincing manner in English and participate in and manage multicultural teams.
