Objective
Purpose of the course
The purpose is to equip you to work as a health and well-being expert at a demanding level in public, private and third sector organisations. You will learn to lead and coordinate well-being and health promotion activities in various organisations and in stakeholder cooperation.
Course competencies:
Proactive development (You know how to lead the development of new, future-oriented solutions and produce new information using various research and development methods)
Learning to learn (You promote your own and your work community's continuous learning and development of expertise by utilizing knowledge from different fields and the opportunities of digitalization)

Sustainable development (You develop sustainable and responsible practices in your work and support sustainable change in your work community and society)
Course objectives:
After completing the course, you will know the international requirements for expertise and strategic management in promoting health and well-being. You will be able to critically evaluate your own expertise in promoting health and well-being and strive for its continuous development, joint learning and sharing of expertise. You are able to evaluate changes in your own sector and services, taking into account future-oriented, critical and sustainable development perspectives, and their effects on health and well-being promotion activities. You are able to activate and collaborate with networks and stakeholders to promote the implementation of health and promotion strategies and evidence-based activities. You utilize evidence-based health promotion management tools when developing and leading well-being and health promotion activities.
Execution methods
The course is implemented entirely online in the Moodle learning environment. Guidance and feedback take place in an online learning environment. The studies consist of independent study and webinars (on Zoom).
The course uses the flipped learning method, in which case the independent work of each module of the course (familiarization with the learning material and learning assignments) is always done before the webinars. As part of independent study, the course includes recorded online lectures with test questions as learning assignments. The webinars emphasize learning together and the importance of peer support, e.g. in connection with small group assignments.
Independent study includes:
-Reflective assessment of one's own health promotion expertise in accordance with international accreditation criteria (IUHPE Health Promotion Practitioner accreditation criteria)
-Written learning assignment regarding well-being and health promotion strategies and programmes in your chosen area, including a
sustainable development perspective -a written learning assignment as a small group assignment regarding the network and stakeholder work
of a health promotion expert -a blog post by a health promotion expert
-a reflective learning diary to be written throughout the course on the Moodle learning platform.
Content
In the course, you will learn to understand the role of expertise and the competence requirements in health promotion management. You will identify health promotion strategies and programs at the international, national and regional levels.
You will learn to recognize the importance of network and stakeholder collaboration in health promotion management. You will learn to utilize evidence-based health promotion management tools as the basis for knowledge-based management. You will learn to understand the importance of evaluating the effectiveness of health promotion and taking into account the perspective of sustainable development in health promotion.
Items of Assessment:
The assessment is a developmental assessment based on the learning outcomes of the course. A key role is played by your own reflective self-assessment of your competence development. Peer commentary will support your learning of health promotion expertise and leadership.
The learning tasks and the reflective learning diary will be assessed as pass/fail. Passed completion of the learning tasks and reflective learning diary is required for successful completion in accordance with the course assessment criteria.

Assessment criteria, approved/failed
This course is graded as Pass/Fail, marked as S (Pass) or 0 (Fail).
S (Pass):
The student is able to critically evaluate his or her own health promotion expertise ac-cording to the international assessment criteria and to present his or her own develop-ment targets in health promotion competence. During the course the student demon-strates the ability to learn together and share expertise. He or she examines changes in his field of activity and services, and their impact on health promotion and management, in a future-oriented and critical way. The student knows what kind of networks and stakeholders are involved in health promotion activities in his or her field of activity. He or she will adopt a variety of networking and stakeholder engagement and collaborative working methods to help implement the health promotion strategy and develop re-search-based activities. Students will be able to use research-based health promotion management tools to develop and lead well-being and health promotion activities in public, private or non-governmental organizations.
