Objectives

Learning to learn (in a complex world).

You develop a critical and analytical mindset that helps you to study and review existing knowledge in the light of relevant learning resources and learning methods; incentives you to acquire new knowledge through experience; and develops your intellectual, emotional, and spiritual capabilities to seek solutions, conclusions and draw inferences in various experiences and contexts. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to explore, experience, and expand a constellation of competencies. To develop a proactive attitude to work in multicultural and international environments and networks in order to develop knowledge and communication skills as well as develop empathy and appreciation for other cultures. To demonstrate ethical and responsible conduct. To promote and reflect upon personal and professional learning in order to enhance your career development and to develop an understanding, vision, and appreciation for sustainable leadership projects.

Content

The course is designed to:

1. Learn the differences between leadership and management and explore leadership eras, theories and styles
2. Increase your understanding of the concept of leadership from the perspective of the leading of the Self and that of the Leadership Experience (relationship with people/stakeholders/followers)
3. Experience emotional intelligence and contemplative practices as pedagogical tool
4. Understand and Experience the 4 human intelligences and their role in creating and performing a balanced and holistic leadership process
5. Explore the Future of Leadership in the Digital Era


Course competences: Learning to learn (in a complex world)

Upon completion of the course you develop the basic understanding of the leadership process and definitions, theories and styles. You become familiar with the main elements of the practice of the leading of the Self and other people. You are self-aware and develop social skills needed in the relationship to other people. You train the skills of listening, reading and inspiring people in the working environment using the components of the emotional intelligence. You acquire the knowledge of the leadership and will put it into action. The self-awareness and your experiential learning process will be facilitated by introducing the concept of the Emotional Intelligence, the principle of Mindfulness and the elements of Inner Engineering.

Teaching methods

The course is meant as an intensive seminar/workshop journey where the student experience:
1. Experiential learning
2. Individual & Collective Coaching
3. Network activation
4. Executive process and follow up
5. Awareness-based leadership & decision making

- SEMINAR & WORKSHOP days are planned to happen in the classrooms at Rajakatu Campus - some sessions could be delivered only on ZOOM to practice leadership digital dynamics and interactions.

Student workload

The passing of the course requires active participation on seminar & workshop days

- Individual work 30%
- Project-base collective work + workshop training 70%

Evaluation scale

0-5

Evaluation criteria, satisfactory (1-2)

- Sufficient (1) - You only have a sufficient understanding and dedication to learning the subject and relevant theories and methods and fails to show a convincing ability to apply the knowledge to real-life situation - both on individual and collective level - nor to communicate the concepts effectively.

- Satisfactory (2)- You learn a restricted part of concepts and theories related to the subject and have deficiencies in showing the ability to apply them in assignments - both on individual and collective levels. Communication skills need improvement and the process needs more practice.

Evaluation criteria, good (3-4)

Good (3) You show good knowledge learning that covers major parts of concepts and theories related to the subject. Your ability to apply the knowledge to assignments shows a need for improvement, as well as there is room for improvement in oral and written communication - - both on individual and collective levels.

Very Good (4) - You learned to apply good knowledge of the subject fundamentals and concepts and can communicate these effectively - both on individual and collective levels.

Evaluation criteria, excellent (5)

Excellent (5) - You show exceptional learning and understanding of theoretical knowledge & applied experience of fundamentals of the subject. You demonstrate the ability to apply the knowledge to assignments and presentations - both on individual and collective levels - with excellent written and oral communication skills.
