Objective

The students know the development of social policy from poor relief to the renegotiation era of a welfare state. The students have familiarized themselves with the entity of Finnish social security policy, the support it offers in the different phases of the human life cycle and especially the legislation regulating rehabilitation and they can apply their knowledge in client cases.

Content

Social policy as a concept and activity, life policy, development of Finnish social security from poor relief to the renegotiation era of a welfare state, social security policy as a system and in international comparisons, central rehabilitation systems included in social security, social security illustrated by example cases, current development challenges of social security policy.
