Objective

The purpose of this course is to explore the principles, practices, and innovations in teaching and learning within clinical nursing education. You will examine evidence-based teaching methods, learner-centered approaches, and assessment techniques that support the development of clinical competence, critical thinking, and professional identity in nursing students. Emphasis is placed on reflective practice, interprofessional education, simulation-based learning, and the integration of technology in clinical instruction. You will develop the skills to create inclusive, ethical, and effective learning experiences that align with contemporary healthcare challenges and educational standards.



By the end of the course, you will be able to apply pedagogical theories to clinical nursing education and design and evaluate clinical learning experiences and assessments. You can facilitate reflective and experiential learning in diverse clinical settings. You can integrate simulation and digital tools to enhance clinical teaching and promote ethical, culturally competent, and patient-centered education. You utilize methods of mentorship and professional identity development in nursing education.

Understands pedagogical theories but applies them inconsistently and sporadically. Clinical learning design and evaluation are at a basic level, lacking innovation. Uses basic tools in teaching but cannot provide pedagogical justification. Considers ethical and cultural aspects only occasionally. Uses basic mentoring methods. Uses basic metrics and feedback for evaluating effectiveness.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

Applies pedagogical theories consistently and justifies choices with practical examples. Clinical learning design and evaluation support learning objectives. Uses tools effectively and purposefully to improve learning outcomes. Consistently incorporates ethical, culturally competent, and patient-centered teaching and applies it in practice. Actively and systematically uses mentoring strategies. Applies interprofessional principles and teamwork in practice and promotes collaboration. Uses diverse metrics and analyzes results when evaluating effectiveness. Uses digital and simulation tools innovatively and with pedagogical justification.

Applies pedagogical theories comprehensively and justifies choices both theoretically and with practical examples. Designs clinical learning experiences innovatively and critically. Deeply integrates simulation and digital tools to enhance clinical teaching and develops practices that support patient-centeredness. Develops new mentoring models. Applies interprofessional principles and teamwork broadly and acts as an active promoter of collaboration. Uses effectiveness metrics systematically and develops evaluation practices to support continuous improvement.
