Objective

The object of the course:
In the Wwise fundamentals certification course you will learn the basics of how to use the Wwise-middleware in game sound design. During the course you will learn the most essential features and workflows in Wwise and how to design game audio professionally. After completing this course, you will have the knowledge required to pass the Wwise – 101 Certification Exam.

Course competences:
Cross-disciplinary competence in games: Student can apply skills and knowledge in a special field of game production, development or design, or other field of study with link to digital games
Game production competence: Student can produce content for a game project and can work with the tools in meaningful and systematic way.
Game production competence: Student can program with an engine-specific language and understand the role of assets and/or middleware.
Game production competence: Student can produce value for a game project while working in a specific specialist role.

The learning objectives of the course:
The course will cover the topics currently required for receiving the Wwise – 101 certification. After the course you will be ready to take the Wwise – 101 Certification Exam. After the course you will have a deeper understanding of game sound design.

Content

During this course you will learn how to use the Wwise middleware in game sound design in practice. You will also deepen your knowledge on different particularities of audio design such as mixing, adaptive music and how audio is implemented to games and the sound design process.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Sufficient (1): You understand the basic use of audio middleware.

Satisfactory (2): You understand the basic use of audio middleware and can apply your knowledge in the practical examples of the course.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

Good (3): You understand the basic use of audio middleware and can create your own content with the software. Your level of knowledge allows you to pass the Wwise 101 certification exam.

Very good (4): You understand the advantages and disadvantages of using audio middleware in different kinds of game projects. Your level of knowledge allows you to pass the Wwise 101 certification exam.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

Excellent (5): You understand the advantages and disadvantages of using audio middleware and are able to implement your own sound design by using audio middleware. Your level of knowledge allows you to pass the Wwise 101 certification exam.
